Gambling counselling and support
Take control of your gambling. Our dedicated team is here to provide the support you need, when you need it. We offer:
- Therapeutic counselling: compassionate, supportive counsellors who take the time to get to know you and support you every step of the way. This service is free and confidential.
- Financial counselling: advice, information and practical support to help you take control of money worries.
- Community education and prevention: offering a range of community engagement programs and education sessions for schools, parents and young people. To book a presentation, email ghs.intake@bhn.org.au

Therapeutic counselling for gambling
For many people, gambling is just the tip of the iceberg rather than the root issue. Our trained, experienced counsellors specialise in the treatment of gambling and will support you to understand why you are gambling and the different ways gambling is affecting you.
Together with you our counsellors may explore any underlying mental or physical health issues and provide practical tools and advice to prevent gambling.
Financial gambling counselling
Our qualified financial counsellors will help you get on top of your finances by:
- talking to your creditors to sort out affordable repayments and provide you with options on how to deal with your debts.
- assessing your current financial position and helping you to understand your budget.
- checking if you are eligible for any concessions and provide information on other types of assistance.

Community education
BHN’s team of dedicated Community Educators is ready to work with your community group, workplace, school or sports club to provide gambling education that suits you.
By partnering across the community, BHN promotes help seeking behaviour and increases awareness of gambling harm and responsible gambling practices. Our focus is on gambling prevention, early intervention and empowering communities to build their own skills to improve wellbeing.

Venue support
Working with gaming venue employees, BHN’s Venue Support Workers provides training to create responsible gambling environments consistent with the Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission (VGCCC). We help venues identify and recognise negative gambling behaviour and encourage continuous improvement and good practice. To speak with a Venue Support Worker, please call 9575 5353.
BHN hosts the Southern Responsible Gambling Network (SRGN) attended by representatives from government departments and authorities, police, emergency services and gaming venues. This is to provide a regional understanding and approach to localised issues and concerns.
